Leicester City have decided to recall Ireland international striker Tom Cannon from Stoke City on loan for the 2024-25 season.

Leicester City’s website has confirm Cannon will be recall for the second half of the 2024-25 season, ending his loan spell with Stoke City early to give the 22-year-old a chance to become an option for Ruud van Nistelrooy in the relegation battle.

The striker, who has already won two senior caps for Ireland, has scored nine goals in 22 Championship games and 11 goals in 25 games in all competitions for Stoke, including four in a 6-1 win over Portsmouth – a performance that has earned him a recall from Leicester.

Cannon has previously played three Premier League games for Everton in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, but has yet to score his first goal. He has also yet to play in the Premier League for Leicester.

Lowe is the joint-leading scorer in the English Football League with 15 and he could be in contention for Saturday’s away game at West Brom, having made his last Stoke appearance as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Bristol City in May.

Cannon, meanwhile, has only made three league starts for Leicester since he join them from Everton in the summer of 2023 and may be loan out elsewhere for the second half of the season or sold with Sheffield United among the clubs link.
